Family left homeless after overnight fire

News

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – A family is trying to get back on their feet after they lost everything in a fire. It happened just before midnight off Isleta.

Roger and Sharon Martinez said earlier in the day the water heater caught fire. The Bernalillo County Fire Department was able to put it out quickly.

The family said they were told not to stay in the home until repairs were made. Then they got the call late last night that the fire started up again and destroyed their home.

The Martinez family has two kids of their own and two young foster children.

“We’re going to take the help that is offered to us and see where it leads us. Hopefully we can get back on track from this mess” Sharon said.

The family is getting help from the Red Cross. The family is also accepting donations at any Bank of the West. The bank account is under the name “Martinez Fund.”
