Families celebrate 2019 early at Explora’s ‘New Year’s Eve’

Some New Mexicans rang in the New Year a little early.

Explora hosted its annual “Noon Year’s Eve” celebration Monday.

It felt like a typical New Years Eve countdown except it happened 12 hours before midnight.

2,018 balloons even dropped onto families below.

People KRQE News 13 spoke to said it was a great way to kick off 2019.

“It is insane! The balloon drop was fun! I got a pink one. My girls were about to melt down!” says Mark Harris.

Visitors could celebrate by taking pictures at the photo selfie station or write what they want to happen in 2019 on a “Wish Wall.”
