ESPANOLA, N.M. (KRQE) – The man who fired a gun that wounded a little girl at the Walmart in Espanola is going to prison for a decade.
The 3-year-old girl was in a shopping cart leaving the store with her dad in 2014 when she was hit in the leg after 23-year-old Mackie Roybal and another man started shooting at each other.
Police believed the shooting was gang related.
Months after his arrest for that, Roybal got in trouble time and time again for crimes, including attacking his young girlfriend and assault on a jail guard.
Roybal was facing five to ten years. The judge decided on the maximum.
