Espanola High School students hand out books before holiday season

ESPANOLA, N.M. (KRQE) – The Espanola Student Council will be handing out books to thousands of elementary students as a gift before the holiday season.

The high school students collected more than 2,000 books.

Monday, they will be distributing them to all 11 elementary schools in the district.

They say it’s to improve literacy in the district which has the highest rate of poverty in the state.
