A New Mexican school district wants to change an election law.

According to the Santa Fe New Mexican, the Local Election Act combines most nonpartisan local elections into one larger election.

Last week, the Santa Fe School district voted to ask the New Mexico School Boards Association and other districts to jointly request lawmakers to amend the law.

They argue the law places burdensome costs on districts and dilutes voter support of school bond issues.
