New Mexico high school graduation requirements change

New requirements make it easier for students to pursue a career when they graduate.

Thursday, the Public Education Department announced by the time incoming freshmen graduate in 2022, they will have taken career and technical classes as well as the traditional academics.

The state says it’s making changes to give students more opportunities to earn dual credit and take Advanced Placement classes.

Classes in fields ranging from engineering and computer science, to law enforcement and pharmacy will be offered.
