Library at new Albuquerque school filled with thousands of new books

Albuquerque’s newest school filled its library with thousands of new books.

About 600 students will be attending Tres Volcanes Community Collaborative School on the Westside this fall.

It was built to help ease crowding at Jimmy Carter Middle School, Painted Sky and Susie Rayos Marmon elementary schools.

Wednesday afternoon, volunteers and staff members unboxed and shelved 1,300 books.

“Today is our big day because this is the day that we actually get to put books on our shelves and it kind of makes everything come alive,” principal Monica Garciasalas said.

The school starts along with most of APS on Aug. 13.
