ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – While many New Mexicans traveled to Waco, Texas to cheer on the Eastdale little leaguers, many fans held their own watch party at the Buffalo Wild Wings in Albuquerque.
The Eastdale Little League Team was trying to become the first New Mexico youth baseball team to reach the Little League World Series in Williamsport in 60 years.
Eastdale Little League, which is in the Heights, has become a powerhouse in New Mexico. They took on a team from San Antonio. Eastdale is 3-0 in the Southwest Regional Tournament. The last New Mexico team to make it to Williamsport was the Hondo Lions of Roswell, that was back in 1956 and they won it all.
Fans packed the Buffalo Wild Wings on Montgomery and Wyoming for Wednesday night’s game in hopes of a win.
However, the team lost 13-3 and will not be moving on to the Little League World Series.
