On Monday, April 29, a new loop for eastbound Rio Bravo traffic to access northbound I-25 will be opened. The loop ramp will be a completed step of the I-25 Rio Bravo Interchange project and will allow eastbound traffic to access the freeway without a traffic signal as traffic in the inside lane can continue on University.
Officials say that traffic could back up at the loop ramp during the first initial days of the ramp opening. The public is encouraged to be on the lookout for construction signs and to reduce their speeds while in the construction zone.
The I-25 Rio Bravo Interchange project is expected to be completed this summer and will feature traffic signals on Rio Bravo from I-25 to Del Rio. The project will increase the number of lanes from four to six and will open a new pathway for cyclists and pedestrians.
