Two locals are being recognized for beautifying their neighborhood.
City Councilor Cynthia Borrego honored Bob Slagle and Jaden Ortiz for their efforts in fixing the signs in the Shenandoah Neighborhood.
Slagle, a woodworker, rebuilt the signs and Ortiz repainted them for free.
“The original was going to cost about $2,000 to replace it, so it goes to show how neighbors helping each other can work in order to improve their neighborhood,” said Slagle.
Ortiz, who is a middle school student, got a $250 check for her college fund for her efforts at Slagle’s request.
