The popular Downtown Grower’s Market helped Albuquerque bloom into spring Saturday morning.
The market at Robinson Park on Central and 8th Street hosts 200 local vendors throughout the season. Booths sell everything from red chile pods to honey and even homemade pottery. Organizers say the ultimate goal is to help growers and artisans get up and running and eventually graduate into a full business.
“They’re able to expand enough that they don’t need to be in the market and you know they start their own food trucks or storefronts, that kind of thing. That’s kind of one our goals is to see people be able to do that,” said Danielle Schlobohm, assistant manager of the Downtown Growers Market.
The market will run every Saturday from now until November 2. Organizers say they also plan to renew a winter market once the weather gets cooler around the holidays.
