LAS CRUCES, N.M. (KRQE) – Wednesday night District Attorney Mark D’Antonio announced that the Doña Ana County Treasurer was guilty of public corruption or gross immorality by a public official.
David Gutierrez was found guilty of the charges and he will now be removed from his office immediately.
“Mr. Gutierrez abused his power as an elected official and was held accountable by my office and a jury of his peers. Our willingness to prosecute and tonight’s verdict sends a message that this kind of behavior will not be tolerated,” said D’Antonio.
In the trial, the Third Judicial DA’s Office accused Gutierrez of offering a woman he worked with to have sex with him for $2,000.
