NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – Santa Fe County Sheriff’s deputies responded to an accident that had shutdown all lanes of northbound I-25 at mile marker 271 Cerrillos Thursday.

SFCS says that they reopened all northbound traffic. For several hours they had drivers exiting the interstate at La Cienega.

The accident involved two motorcyclist. Police initially said it was a fatal accident but now tell KRQE News 13 that one of the bikers was injured airlifted to UNM Hospital where he is currently in critical condition with life-threatening injuries. Police say he is a 19-year-old from Pecos.

Police say alcohol or stimulants did not seem to be a factor in the crash, but are still investigating if speed is a factor.
