Deming school district does away with gun free zones

News

One New Mexico school district will no longer have gun free zones.

According to the Deming Headlight, Superintendent Arsenio Romero requested the “Gun Free Zone” signs installed during the administration of Superintendent Harvielee Moore be removed from school sites.

District officials say they will also discuss bringing armed school resource officers to schools.

The district, like many through the state, have been dealing with school shooting threats since the fall.
