ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – In the wake of 10-year-old Victoria Martens‘ brutal death, CYFD is reminding people about a program to keep kids safe.
According to the Albuquerque Journal, the department says it’s seen a 20 percent increase in calls to the #SAFE program. The program lets anyone report suspected child abuse or neglect.
CYFD says it gets about 35,000 calls a year, and about 20,000 of those are moved ahead to investigations. From there, CYFD decides if a child needs to be removed or if the family can be helped with social services.
