Woman charged with first-degree murder in connection to motel homicide

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A woman has been arrested in connection to a weekend murder at an Albuquerque motel. Albuquerque Police say around 8 a.m. on Sunday, April 11 officers arrived at the Desert Sands Inn near Tramway and I-40 after a call about a stabbing.

Authorities found one woman dead and Mary Jane Luna-Ruybal who claimed to be the victim’s girlfriend. During police questioning, Ruybal allegedly admitted she and the victim got into a fight and that she didn’t mean to stab her.

Ruybal says she meant to stab the door and the victim stepped in front of her. She is charged with first-degree murder.
