An inmate who escaped from the Curry County jail last year has been sentenced to more than a decade behind bars.

Kaitlyn Martinez-Arington was able to slip out a door by following a healthcare worker who was leaving. She then attacked that woman when she tried to stop her.

Judge Matthew Chandler sentenced Martinez-Arington to 11 years, eight of which are for being a habitual offender. She was locked up to begin with for drug charges.

Martinez-Arington’s boyfriend, David Gibson, and his brother, Donald Gibson, are also facing charges for aiding her escape.
