Woman uses police code to tell officers she was kidnapped

A pair of kidnapping suspects chose the wrong house to hide out from police.

According to a criminal complaint, a stolen car fled from APD in the area of Central and Atrisco on Thursday night.

Police say 18-year-old Anthony Chavez was the driver. They say he tried to run from police on foot but was caught.

Meanwhile, 20-year-old Gabriel Chavez and a 14-year-old girl also ran from officers.

They allegedly broke into a home near Atrisco and Hanover where a woman, who happens to be a police dispatcher, and her 9-year-old son were staying at the time.

Police eventually responded to the home, where the woman used police code to tell officers she and her son were kidnaped.

Gabriel Chavez and the teen girl were arrested.

This weekend, Judge Christine Rodriguez handed down the same bond for both Anthony and Gabriel Chavez.

“I am going to impose a thousand dollar cash or surety bond. He is also going to be on pretrial supervision services,” said Judge Rodriguez.

The teen girl was booked into the Juvenile Detention Center.
