A suspected drunk driver who killed a beloved teacher more than a year ago will stay locked up.

Matt Farley was hit from behind at a red light on Eubank and Academy in June 2017.

He never recovered from his injuries and died in November.

Police say the driver who hit him, Carol Sanchez, was speeding and was high on meth.

Last week, Sanchez was charged with homicide by vehicle.

The state argued Sanchez should stay behind bars until trial, citing the fact that she has failed three drug tests since the crash.

In court Tuesday, District Court Judge Neil Candelaria decided to grant the state’s motion.
