The state is pushing hard to keep an accused drunk driver behind bars, after his latest arrest turned deadly.
Joshua Appelgate was charged with vehicular homicide by DWI, after police say he hit and killed another driver near Unser and McMahon last month.
It turned out Appelgate had been arrested for drunk driving less than a month before. He had been released pending trial, with orders not to drink and to have an interlock in his car.
Now, prosecutors argue there are simply no conditions of release that would keep the community safe, and they want him held until trial.
A judge will make that decision next week.
