Shooting suspect arrested after leading police on moped chase

CLOVIS, N.M. (KRQE) - Clovis Police have arrested a shooting suspect after he fled from them on a moped.

Ruben Lopez, 24, is accused of shooting a 55-year-old man on North Prince Street on October 26.

When officers caught up with Lopez Tuesday in a convenience store parking lot, they say he jumped on his moped and sped off.

As he was crossing multiple lanes trying to get away, he crashed into another vehicle.

He was treated for his injuries and is now in jail.
