An Albuquerque security guard shot trying to break into his former roommate’s home is set to spend six months behind bars.
Back in May, Jessie Massey called police from the Movies 8 on San Mateo and Montgomery saying he’d been shot on the job by a homeless person.
Police later figured out he was actually shot by a man at a nearby apartment complex. That man told police Massey showed up accusing him of stealing his belongings.
Massey tried to break in, even shooting at the apartment where the man was inside with his girlfriend and her child. That’s when the man shot Massey in the leg.
Friday, the state called for Massey to serve the maximum of three years in prison, but Judge Alisa Hart sentenced him to six months, citing a lack of criminal history.
He’ll spend the remaining two and a half years on probation when he gets out.
