APD: Shooters in two cars exchanged gunfire, one killed

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Albuquerque police officers are investigating a fatal shooting in the area of Unser and Central Wednesday afternoon. The Albuquerque Police Department reports at approximately 1:45 p.m. officers were dispatched to the Unser and Central area.

Police say it was first reported that a silver vehicle and black vehicle shot at each other and one vehicle reportedly fled the scene. Authorities state when officers got to the scene, a city transit bus driver was calling in that a vehicle was in the intersection and that someone had been shot.

Officers found both subjects struck, one in the torso and one in the upper extremity, and both victims were transported to UNM Hospital. Police say one man died and the other victim is listed in stable condition.

Police say the deceased victim is 15-year-old Kyle Martinez. Homicide detectives are still investigating the incident.
