Man in serious condition following shooting near UNM

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The Albuquerque Police Department is investigating a shooting that took place near University Blvd. and Central Ave. on Wednesday afternoon.

APD reports that upon arriving, officers located a victim identified as Carlos Nolasco who was laying on the corner of Pine St. and Central Ave. Police say Nolasco was transported to a local hospital in critical condition after being shot at least once near his upper torso.

Witnesses at the scene say they saw two African American males running from the scene after the shooting. At this time, police have not identified the suspects.

Surveillance video of the scene has been located and police are working to obtain the video. The victim was taken into surgery and has stabilized though he still remains in serious condition.

He is expected to survive.
