Police arrest man who threatened to kill himself during DWI stop

Police say a man threatened to kill himself after officers stopped him for drunk driving on I-25. 

State Police say 56-year-old Orlando Lopez was speeding Saturday evening near Tramway. 

Officers used spike strips to stop him. 

Police say Lopez told them he wanted to drive into oncoming traffic, and pulled out a knife during the stop. 

He then threatened to kill himself.

Police called in its crisis team. 

Lopez was arrested. State Police say he’s been arrested for DWI seven times before.
