Details have emerged about an Albuquerque man who allegedly confessed to killing his girlfriend.

The Albuquerque Police Department responded to the Alta Vista Apartments near Tramway and Montgomery Wednesday where they found Nicole Robbins dead.

Her fiance, 39-year-old Francisco Montoya claims the two got into an argument late Tuesday night.

Police say Montoya told authorities he choked her and pushed her to the ground, hearing a loud thump when her head hit the floor..

Montoya says he then went into his car to fall asleep and returned to find Robbins unresponsive.

Montoya was arrested and charged with an open count of murder.
