A man accused in a string of burglaries in northern New Mexico has a history of similar crimes some 3,000 miles away.

Taos police say Carl Gage broke into Taos-area businesses at least six times between March and November last year, stealing cash and electronics. The businesses listed include Popolo’s, Blake’s Lotaburger, KOKO Coffee and Southwest Wellness.

Turns out, Gage served four years behind bars in Alaska for nearly a dozen burglaries there. That’s according to the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner, which reports Gage was released in 2017 and broke parole by coming to New Mexico.

Gage is expected to be tried here, then extradited back to Alaska to face charges for the parole violation.
