A mistrial has been declared for the man accused of murdering three innocent people during a cross-city killing spree.

Yoan Santiesteban went on trial last week for one of three murders.

He’s charged with killing 44-year-old Samir Al-Aboudy during a robbery at the Days Inn on Menaul Boulevard.

He’s then accused of shooting and killing 27-year-old Celina Arrellanes, who was caught in the crossfire of a drug deal gone bad.

Finally, he’s charged with killing 25-year-old Matthew Severinghaus while trying to rob him in his driveway in northeast Albuquerque.

After a two week trial in one of the murder cases, the jury could not reach a unanimous decision. The vote was to 9-3 guilty.

The District Attorney’s office says it will decide whether it will retry the case after the other two murder cases are complete.
