The man accused of nearly gunning down an Albuquerque Police Department officer at a Walmart on Eubank is now charged with shoplifting at the store days before the shooting.
Court documents say one officer saw Purvis take a backpack, fill it with baby formula and leave, just two days before the shooting.
The very next day police say he came back; this time taking a bike and drone before running out.
On the day of the shooting, an officer chased him. The two dashed in-between cars in the middle of a busy parking lot.
As soon as the officer got within arms reach of Purvis, video shows Purvis shooting at the officer.
