Man accused of raping woman to remain locked up

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) - The Albuquerque man accused of snatching a woman off the street and raping her will stay locked up until trial.

Police say 35-year-old Timothy Bachicha pulled up next to the woman last week near San Mateo and Indian School offering her a ride.

When she declined, the woman said Bachicha forced her into his van where he sexually assaulted her before dropping her off at a Walmart.

Bachicha was scheduled to appear in court Thursday, but his attorney decided not to fight the state's motion for detention.
