Machete-wielding battery case suspect arrested again

Crime

The Albuquerque man who admitted to threatening people with a machete is back behind bars.

Video from 2017 shows Steven Leewright’s dramatic arrest after swinging around a machete outside the Smith’s at Lomas and San Pedro.

He was locked up for four months, then released.

In October 2018, Leewright was arrested again for chasing people with a knife near Central and Ash. He was released that time after posting bond.

Then, Monday night police say Leewright began banging on the doors and windows of a home near Lomas and Carlisle demanding to be let in.

He was arrested on an outstanding warrant for aggravated battery and indecent exposure.
