A state representative arrested for DWI was hoping for a jury trial, but that won’t be happening.
Monica Youngblood was arrested for driving drunk after she passed through an Albuquerque Police Department DWI checkpoint in May.
Youngblood asked for a jury trial in court Tuesday morning, but Metropolitan Court Judge Kevin Fitzwater turned the request down.
Jury trials are not an automatic right when a defendant faces less than six months in jail.
Youngblood’s bench trial has now been set for late August.
