Judge denies motion to extend former teacher’s probation

A former teacher who had sex with her 13-year-old student will not remain on probation despite a request from prosecutors.

Kristy Sanchez-Trujillo was a Jimmy Carter Middle School teacher when she admitted to having sex more than once with her then 13-year-old student in 2009.

She has been on probation since 2012.

As part of her probation, she supposed to report any romantic relationships.

A rule she’s accused of violating last year when she didn’t tell her probation officer she had a fiance.

Prosecutors asked her probation be extended by two-and-a-half years Wednesday.

Judge Jacqueline Flores ruled the state failed to prove its case and denied the motion.

Sanchez-Trujillo is still required to register as a sex offender.
