Homicide investigation begins after man dies from gunshot wounds

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The Albuquerque Police Department is investigating a homicide that took place in southeast Albuquerque on Sunday night. APD says around 6:30 p.m., officers were called to the area of Vassar Dr. and McEarl Ave. near Girard Blvd. regarding a male who had been shot.

Police report that officers found a male with two gunshot wounds who was laying in the street. The male was transported to UNMH where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities have not released the identity of the male. No other information about the scene has been released at this time.

APD is also looking into a separate homicide that took place on Sunday evening near Pennsylvania and Chico. Officers say they received a call about someone being beaten and shot. Authorities report officers provided first aid to a male victim at the scene, however, the victim did not survive his injuries.
