HOBBS, N.M. (KRQE) – The Hobbs Police Department is investigating a shooting that left one person dead. Officers responded to the Walmart at 3800 N. Lovington Hwy. just after 2 a.m. to reports of a shooting. When officers arrived on the scene, they found 24-year-old Jordan Ruiz in the parking lot with a gunshot wound.

Hobbs police say Ruiz was taken to the Covenant Hobbs Hospital where he later died from his injuries. After detectives reviewed surveillance footage of the area, they were able to get a license plate on the vehicle driven by the suspects which police said was stolen.
After telling nearby law enforcement agencies of the vehicle, deputies with the Reeves County Sheriff’s Office in Texas tried to stop the vehicle. Deputies said the vehicle tried to flee but that deputies were able to get the vehicle stopped. Three suspects, one 18-year-old male, and two juveniles were arrested. All three are facing charges in the shooting. Hobbs police said there are no more outstanding suspects.
