Farmington Police begin homicide investigation after two women shot

The Farmington Police Department is investigating an early morning homicide after gunfire resulted in the death of one woman and left another with injuries Wednesday morning.

Officials received reports of shots fired around 12:58 a.m. near the 1100 block of South Bowen.

Around 1:01 a.m., security at San Juan Regional Medical Center called the police to report that a woman with a gunshot wound in her lower back was dropped off at the emergency room.

The woman was identified as Farmington local, 24-year-old Francine Delgado, who passed away at the hospital.

A second woman, 28-year-old Rebecca Jacquez, was dropped off at the hospital around 1:46 a.m. with a gunshot wound to her buttock.

She left the hospital after being treated for the non-life threatening injury.

This is an active investigation.
