Albuquerque police arrested two men for stealing a bait car.
According to a criminal complaint, APD’s auto-theft unit set up the bait car on Central and Yale Friday night.
Police say 18-year-old Wyverson Begay and 25-year-old Larry Castillo got into the car and drove off.
They did not get far- the bait car broke down at Yale and Silver.
Begay and Castillo were then arrested.
Both made their first appearance in court Saturday morning.
Judge Christine Rodriguez released Castillo on his own recognizance with one exception.
“Mr. Castillo needs some type of supervision as he has minimal community ties. He will be placed on pretrial services supervision,” said Judge Rodriguez.
Begay was also released with pretrial services.
Both are facing charges of unlawful taking of a motor vehicle.
