The public is learning more about last weekend’s deputy-involved shooting with the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office.
BCSO says Deputy Scott Golson, a four-year veteran of the force opened fire at the vehicle Derick Garcia and Dominic Marquez were in. BCSO says the driver, Garcia, tried to run over deputies, prompting Golson to shoot at the vehicle.
The department says this was Golson’s first deputy-involved shooting. A multi-agency task force is investigating the incident.
Garcia is still in jail while Marquez has been released. Both face charges.
