A door-to-door vacuum salesman convicted of raping a potential customer has been sentenced to three years in prison, but the judge says he deserves more.
Brandon Barron raped the woman with developmental disabilities after she let him into her house to show her his Kirby vacuums.
He was convicted of rape in the third degree, which means he used force or coercion.
Judge Fred Van Soelen sentenced Barron to the maximum of three years, but told him in court he wished state law allowed him to impose a longer sentence.
He said Barron has shown a lack of remorse and that the crime “strikes at a person’s right to feel safe in their homes.”
When he gets out, Barron will have to register as a sex offender for life.
