Bernalillo County District Attorney Torrez provides update on unsolved homicide

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Bernalillo County District Attorney Raul Torrez held a virtual news conference on Friday, February 26 to provide an update on the unsolved homicide of Andres Loera who was killed in February 2020. Charges have been filed in the year-old murder of an Albuquerque man.

On February 13, 2020 Andres Loera was found slumped over in a vehicle on Hoffman Drive near Indian School and Pennsylvania. Four people have now been charged including 16-year-old Serina Burks, 24-year-old Ryan Baca, 20-year-old Markell Barnes, and 23-year-old Rashawd Duhart.

Investigators say Loera met Burks to sell marijuana when he was robbed and shot about a dozen times. Gun casings from the scene have also linked the group to several other crimes including a drive-by shooting in Albuquerque and a robbery in Portland.
