A beer truck driver is being called a hero after saving an elderly woman from a mugging.
He jumped in and stopped the robbery and stood his ground even after the thief pulled a gun on them. The victim says she comes to the CVS all the time and she’s thankful that fateful day, someone was looking out for her.
On any given day, beer delivery driver Aaron Quinones will unload, stack and sort anywhere from six to nine deliveries just like this one.
Just two weeks ago he put his delivery to this CVS on Menual and Eubank on pause when he witnessed an elderly woman assaulted in the store’s parking lot.
“I thank God he was there when he was there and that he did do something,” said Virginia Conway.
Conway says she was driving out of the parking lot when she was approached by a man on foot.
“He told me something was wrong with the license plate and he kept, he was persistent in it,” Conway said.
So she got out, but her car was fine.
“I went to get back in the car and he walked around in front of me and that’s when I knew something was not right,” Conway said.
“He grabbed her and he threw her to the ground,” Quinones said.
Ouinones says that’s when sprung into action.
“As soon as I got around the car she was on the ground next to the driver’s side, and he pulled out a gun an said this is none of your business,” Quinones said.
Quinones didn’t leave. Instead, he talked the man down and took Conway back inside the store.
“When he was there, oh I was so relieved that he was there, and I told him, ‘My God, you were my guardian angel,'” Conway said.
Conway was so touched by his actions, “He kind of restored my faith in humanity,” she said.
She wrote a letter to the CEO of the beverage company applauding Quinones’ bravery.
“Just to read it and to go back through the events that happened, to know that she’s alright that makes me happy,” Quinones said.
Both Conway and Quinones say they hope this experience reminds others to never get out of your car for someone you don’t know.
Police were called to the scene. It’s unclear if they’ve made an arrest.
