A 15-year-old Albuquerque teen is accused of murdering his cousin.

Albuquerque authorities have arrested a teen suspect after a girl’s body was found in a southwest area arroyo Saturday morning.

Police say the girl’s body was found around 5:42 a.m. near Unser and Gibson.

In a criminal complaint, authorities were called to a home where Selina Morfin explained to an officer that her niece was missing and provided a note written by her son, Jeramiah Morfin.

The note explained that Jeramiah killed his female cousin. The officer then spoke to Jeramiah who was still at the home.

The complaint goes on to state that Jeramiah told the officer he “kinda lost it,” and went on to say he “did something bad” and left the girl in a ditch.

Morfin led authorities to the girl’s body in a nearby arroyo. Police say there were indications the girl may have been sexually assaulted.

Jeramiah Morfin is charged with murder and is being held at the Juvenile Detention Center.

Authorities have not disclosed the girl’s age.

This is an ongoing investigation. No other information has been released at this time.
