Albuquerque man arrested for alleged murder of girlfriend in South Valley


An Albuquerque man was arrested for allegedly murdering his girlfriend.

According to court documents, Bernalillo County deputies received a tip Friday morning that led them to the home of 59-year-old William Baca on Broadway, south of Rio Bravo.

There, Baca reportedly admitted to killing his girlfriend, Annette Armijo, in self-defense because she tried to kill him.

Baca was arrested and charged with an open count of murder.

He appeared in metro court Saturday morning.

“Mr. Baca, the state has filed a preventative detention motions in this case. What that means is you are going to be held in custody,” said Judge Christine Rodriguez.

Baca’s criminal history includes multiple DWI arrests.
