Crews respond to Albuquerque storage unit fire

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – People are devastated after learning that they lost their belongings in a fast-moving fire at an Albuquerque storage facility.

Firefighters got to the scene at ABQ Mini Storage near I-25 and Jefferson Friday afternoon where dozens of storage units went up in flames.

They had to open each unit to check for hot spots. AFD days firefighters contained the blaze to about 30 storage units.

One woman showed up hoping for a chance to check on her things. She said everything she owned was in storage.

“My dad died a few years ago and I moved in with my mom, all of my life was in there. My son’s baby pictures, I’ll never get those back,” Yvette Aragon said.

The storage facility told her customers will be able to get a look at the damage in their units Saturday morning.
