The Civilian Police Oversight Agency is recommending the dismissal of an Albuquerque Police Department spokesperson and his superior.

He appears quite often in KRQE News 13’s newscasts the public face of APD: Officer Simon Drobik.

According to the Albuquerque Journal, an investigation from the CPOA found Officer Drobik was the city’s highest paid employee last year, making more than $192,000. It says Officer Drobik violated policies more than 50 times by getting paid simultaneously as a spokesperson and working the chief’s overtime at local businesses.

The CPOA board also recommends the dismissal of Officer Drobik’s supervisor, who they say let it happen. However, Chief Mike Geier has the final say on what happens.

KRQE News 13 reached out to the CPOA and the city for comment, but have not heard back.
