Couple suspected of damaging Quran at Santa Fe library

SANTA FE, N.M. (KRQE) – A couple is suspected of damaging copies of the Quran at the Santa Fe Public Library.

According to the police report, the library’s manager says the couple was being loud and disruptive. She later found three versions of the Quran near where they were sitting with what she believes was urine on them. She also noticed President Bill Clinton’s autobiography had been damaged and books by conservative writer Ann Coulter had been taken.

Copies of the Bible were also left around the library. According to police, the man came back a few days later with a knife, saying he “had the right to bear arms.”

The couple eventually left in a white Ford-250 truck towing a trailer. The truck had a Wyoming license plate, so it’s unclear if the couple lives here or was just passing through.
