Couple found guilty in murder of Albuquerque woman and friend

A couple has been convicted in the murder of an Albuquerque woman and her friend in Arizona.

Montez Wright and Tichina Shepard were found guilty Thursday in the deaths of 75-year-old Ruth Schwed and 70-year-old Barbara Leslie.

Schwed, a long time Albuquerque Public Schools teacher was visiting Arizona in 2016 when the two women were fatally shot.

Leslie’s SUV was later found at Phoenix apartment complex. A third suspect, Andrew Lauro, was sentenced to life back in 2017.
