County manager speaks out about standoff at Curry County jail

CURRY COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) – The Curry County manager says he’s “very concerned” about how a gun got into the county jail.

It happened last week when Wesley Flores was arrested. He was able to get a gun into jail and held a detention officer hostage.

While Clovis Police have not named the officer who brought Flores to the jail, County Manager Lance Pyle has identified him as Officer Sanford Wagner.

Pyle also expressed confidence in the Clovis Police Department’s ability to prevent something like this from happening again.
