Councilors reject proposal to reopen Cahoon Pool in Roswell

ROSWELL, N.M. (KRQE) – A proposal to reopen Roswell’s Cahoon Pool has been rejected. The pool was closed last spring after city councilors said maintenance costs outweighed the benefits. Mayor Dennis Kintigh asked the council to reconsider the decision at least through the summer. The council voted 8-2 against the proposal, saying the projected costs would be more than $228,000. A new facility which will feature a six lane lap swimming pool, a slide and a toddler area is scheduled to open in 2018.
