RIO RANCHO, N.M. (KRQE) – Rio Rancho City Councilors are amending a proposed ordinance that would allow pygmy goats as pets in the city.

The change includes requiring owners to dehorn and neuter their male goats. It’s to ease some concerns brought up by residents.

Right now, it’s illegal to bring goats into most city neighborhoods.

The proposal would give goat owners the same rights as cat and dog owners. It  would also allow more people to raise chickens.
